Gary Holloway grew up in Clarksville, close enough to the Ohio River that barge horns blended into the everyday background noise, and his teenage summers were spent loading freight at a Jeffersonville warehouse just off the I-65 bridge. Sitting in that bridge traffic every single day taught him early how badly a mistimed crossing could derail an otherwise routine workday. In 2012 he bought a single box truck, put up a sign reading Gary’s Moving Company, and staked the whole business on one promise: whatever figure lands on the estimate is the figure collected on move day, period.

How that promise plays out day to day

Gary had grown tired of hearing Kentuckiana neighbors complain about a mover quoted cheap over the phone, only to watch the number climb once the truck was already loaded and sitting in Louisville rush-hour traffic. Because of that, every quote out of this office begins with a real look at what’s actually moving — an in-person walkthrough, or at minimum a detailed list called or emailed in. He still handles the toughest Downtown Jeffersonville and riverfront jobs himself, lives a few minutes from the yard in Clarksville, and can name off the top of his head which bridge to skip on a Friday afternoon.

A small, steady office and crew stand behind every move — the same names year after year, not a revolving cast. Trent Ashbrook writes the flat-rate quotes and arranges certificates of insurance for New Albany and Charlestown HOAs before any truck rolls out. Dez Colton maps the day’s routes around Louisville rush hour and bridge closures so a Spring Street job never sits stalled on the I-65 bridges. Out on the trucks, Marcus Delaine takes the Downtown Jeffersonville and riverfront work, Ronnie Vasek handles the older homes around Downtown and Utica without leaving a mark, and Sean Okafor manages short-term storage plus Louisville-area transfers whenever a closing date slides.

Fourteen years, five trucks, and somewhere around 5,400 completed moves later, the promise behind that first box truck hasn’t budged an inch. It’s still our own crew showing up, still trucks we own free and clear, and still a flat number put in writing before a single box gets touched.
